What's This?

So Hanna  carreon asked “why do you think it is important to know & understand the different cultural practices in crop production?” and i decided to take on the question and answering in laymans terms so in the best ways that i can because this question is easy but tricky to put into words.

In my own words…

I think it is important to know & understand the different cultural practices in crop production because knowing these practices will help you increase crop productivity and also the safety of the crop. in the case of Moulding , gathering soil around the crop prevents soil erosion and this is helpful because not all plants roots are strong and firm into the soil.

In terms of Mulching , usually done to retain moisture in the soil around the plant. this is very useful when entering the hot/kawem season in the caribbean.

When Pruning, you are allowing sunlight to hit the plant by cutting of the branches. Plants use the sunlight to make a chemical reaction called photosynthesis. They make energy using this process. It makes them grow big!

Staking will prevent the plant from leaning and breaking and most importantly, if the plant has fruits then it will not touch the ground to result in the damage and rotting of the fruit.

and my last but lest explanation: Fertilizing – adding nutrients to the soil. (The placing of organic or chemical manure to the soil to improve nutrients)

This information can now be summarized by you in whatever way you like. leave a comment below or suggestion.
